An Apartment Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing apartment buildings to ensure safety, comfort, and functionality for residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform  preventative and reactive maintenance on plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliances, and general carpentry tasks Indeed+2.
• Respond promptly to  tenant maintenance requests and resolve issues such as leaks, clogs, faulty wiring, broken locks, or appliance malfunctions  interviewguy.com+1.
• Conduct  routine inspections of building systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, and HVAC, ensuring compliance with safety standards interviewprep.org.
• Maintain  common areas , including cleaning, painting, landscaping, and minor repairs Betterteam+1.
• Prepare vacant units for new tenants, including deep cleaning, painting, and necessary repairs interviewprep.org.
• Track and manage  inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment , ordering replacements as needed Betterteam+1.
• Report major issues or suggest improvements to  Property Managers or Maintenance Supervisors interviewguy.com.
• Be available for  emergency situations , such as gas leaks, power outages, or water damage interviewguy.com.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Technical proficiency in  plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance repair Indeed+1.
• Strong  problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to efficiently diagnose and fix maintenance issues interviewguy.com.
• Attention to detail and ability to  identify potential hazards or maintenance needs  interviewguy.com+1.

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications (e.g.,  NATE, HVAC, CMRP ) are preferred Indeed+2.

Work Environment

Compensation

• Average salary is approximately $20-25 per hour , varying by location, experience, and property size Indeed.
