Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients. Perform orthopedic procedures and selective medical services (diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care procedures) under physician supervision. Respond as the first responder in the Emergency Department to diagnose and provide patient care interventions under the direction of a physician. Provide orthopedic inpatient consults under physician supervision. Handle urgent calls regarding orthopedic inpatients. Assist in the Operating Room with preoperative care, surgical assistance, and postoperative care. Supervise stress test evaluations of patients. Keep accurate progress notes and dictate discharge summaries. Communicate appropriately with physicians regarding patient care issues. Maintain effective and professional communication with internal and external customers. Work independently in an organized and time-conscious manner. Present oneself professionally. Show flexibility regarding staffing needs and position requirements. Engage in professional growth and development; keep records of training, seminars, and certifications. Comply with professional, regulatory, governmental, and departmental standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of VA.
