Lucia Los Angeles is a Modern Caribbean fine dining restaurant led by Executive Chef Cleophus Hethington, a two-time James Beard Award finalist whose cooking centers the stories, flavors, and legacy of the Afro-diaspora.
At Lucia, we approach Caribbean food with precision, depth, and respect. Technique matters. Culture matters. Consistency matters.
We are currently hiring a Prep Cook (5 days per week) and prep shifts are 8am - 4pm Wednesday through Saturday. with a primary focus on our patties program. This role is production-driven and detail-oriented. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that one of our core menu items is executed with consistency and care every single day.
Position Overview
This role will work closely with the Chef team to:
• Produce patty dough and fillings according to spec
• Handle portioning, assembly, batching, and production flow
• Maintain strict recipe adherence and consistency
• Manage prep lists and daily par levels
• Support overall kitchen prep as needed
This is not a line position. This is a production role that requires focus, organization, and pride in repetition done well.
Responsibilities
• Execute all recipes accurately and consistently
• Maintain clean and organized prep stations
• Label, date, and store all products properly
• Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
• Communicate product needs to the Chef team
• Assist with inventory and prep organization
• Support opening and closing duties as directed
Qualifications
• Previous prep cook or production experience preferred
• Experience with dough work is a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow recipes exactly
• Organized, self-motivated, and dependable
• Calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for 8–10 hours
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to bend, reach, and move comfortably in a kitchen setting
