Position Summary The Gas Distribution Engineer plays a critical role in designing and implementing safe, efficient gas distribution systems. This position involves hands-on project management, technical analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset to support Altamira’s mission of excellence and innovation. Key Responsibilities Design and coordinate the installation of gas distribution facilities, including engineering calculations, estimates, and technical studies. Analyze system load, pressure requirements, and future growth to inform design decisions. Specify and size pipeline equipment, prepare economic justifications, and provide indirect supervision to project teams. Develop engineering drawings and clearly communicate design intent to field personnel and contractors. Conduct pressure and cathodic protection studies for distribution systems. Maintain relationships with external vendors, agencies, and utilities to ensure material availability and information flow. Prepare capital investment justifications, budget items, and project completion reports. Review work orders and cost data to ensure alignment with project plans and financial targets. Support system operations evaluations and assist in troubleshooting technical issues. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related Engineering/Technology discipline from an accredited institution, or previous gas distribution project experience. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels and represent Altamira in external meetings. Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and with community partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness to learn and utilize tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP, Utility Design Software, and ArcGIS. Strong project and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AutoCAD, AUD, and GIS platforms. Familiarity with gas distribution systems and applicable regulatory frameworks. Location: Houston or Dallas, TX (preferred) Travel: Occasional travel may be required to project sites and client meetings.
