About the Role: This role is more than just building numbers – it’s about shaping the success of a project from the very beginning. As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you’ll play a critical role in how we pursue, price, and execute projects across our portfolio of construction projects. You’ll lead the development of detailed, accurate estimates and competitive bid proposals that set the foundation for scope, budget, schedule, and risk. Working closely with project managers, field leaders, and leadership, you’ll help ensure our work is not only cost-effective, but also safe, constructible, and aligned with how we operate in the field. This role requires someone who is collaborative, detail-oriented, and confident in navigating a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality projects, build strong client relationships, and continue growing as an organization grounded in integrity and disciplined execution. What You’ll Do: Evaluate project opportunities to determine bid/no-bid decisions based on risk, fit, and probability of success Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope, risks, and requirements Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed, accurate cost estimates Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks to gain firsthand understanding of project conditions Develop construction schedules, logistics plans, and bid strategies to support competitive proposals Conduct constructability reviews and identify risks, gaps, and opportunities early in the process Bid Development & Execution: Prepare and distribute Invitations to Bid to subcontractors and suppliers and follow up to ensure strong coverage Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure scope alignment and competitiveness; negotiate pricing to achieve best value while protecting project margins Build clear trade scopes of work, scope sheets, and bid summaries Lead bid day act by compiling, reviewing, and finalizing all proposal components to ensure a complete and accurate submission within required timelines Partner with the proposal coordinator to assemble complete bid packages (schedules, narratives, org charts, etc.) Analysis & Value Engineering Identify value engineering opportunities within bid Develop options and recommend best-value solutions based on cost, quality, materials, and constructability Analyze bid results and provide well-informed recommendations for subcontractor and vendor awards Prepare scope narratives and clearly communicate assumptions, strategy, and risks to internal and external partners Relationships & Collaboration Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers Collaborate closely with project managers, field leaders, fleet, accounting, and leadership to align estimating with execution Support business development efforts through conceptual estimating and early-stage proposals Project Support & Handoff Support the operations team on awarded projects, including pricing change orders and assisting with contract-related items Ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project management through clear documentation and communication through life of projectMaintain organized, accurate bid files and preconstruction documentation Partner with leadership to refine and strengthen estimating processes, tools, and best practices over time Forecasting: Build and maintain project cost forecasts from early concept through final bid to support informed decision-making Leverage historical data, market trends, and field input to improve estimate accuracy and competitiveness Partner with the Field to align cost assumptions with real-world execution strategies Identify cost risks and opportunities early, providing recommendations to improve accuracy and project outcomes Requirements: Field or trade experience in electrical construction preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered 8+ years of progressive electrical estimating experience, with a strong understanding of: Electrical systems and infrastructure (including substations and DOT work) Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and bid documents Performing detailed takeoffs and building accurate cost estimates Design build experience (EPC) preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electrical estimating/takeoff software (Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar tools) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a “trust but verify” mindset Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to take ownership of work Why You’ll Love Working Here: Work a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors Be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team environment Join a team-focused culture that values partnership, accountability, and shared success What we Offer: Competitive pay with weekly payroll Paid Time off and 9 paid holidays 401(k) with 3.5% company match Health, dental, and vision benefits effective on day one #J-18808-Ljbffr Rauhorn Electric, Inc.
