Program/Location: Hendee House, Coventry, CT

About the Program: Hendee Road Home is a 6 bed residential program for men with severe mental illness and are discharging from long term hospitalization. The program will address the full range of daily living needs of each individual with a focus on increasing independence and self-efficacy of individuals through 24-hour/7-day a week staff support in the residence and the community. Staff interventions focus on teaching skills around daily living, symptom management, coping skills, medication management, health & nutrition, healthy relationships, personal safety, money management, substance use education, linking to recovery supports, and providing sober activities. Staff will also provide crisis intervention in attempt to reduce need for hospitalizations and emergency room visits.

About the Position: Registered Nurse

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provides direct services to clients supported within the 24/7 residential setting.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the treatment of substance use disorders as well as co-occurring disorders relevant to the population served.
• Intervenes in client differences or conflicts in a way to ensure a positive milieu.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of family and natural support connections for clients served within the programs
• Demonstrates the ability to form and maintain positive and healthy rapport with clients served by building trust and supporting competencies through interest and active engagement.
• Demonstrates the ability to teach and support the learning of a broad range of skills including those related to: coping skills, ADLS and areas of psychoeducation and linkage to community resources and self-help groups.
• Transports clients within the program as needed.
• Documents planned interventions, behavior incidents, and general observations of clients served and assessment of their skills, behavior, and moods in an objective and professional manner.
• Provides integrated behavioral health and medical treatment planning and comprehensive care management of adults with substance use and mental health disorders.
• Maintains knowledge of current ideas, theories and research regarding treatment of individuals with complex behavioral health and medical issues including factors contributing to health care disparities
• Supervises provision of laboratory testing on-site and off-site, according to agency policies
• Develops and provides individual and group treatment and psycho-educational groups designed to aid clients in understanding and maintaining their medications and side effects, as well as how to manage their behavioral health symptoms, improve skills for recovery and living a healthy lifestyle.
• Provides crisis assessment and intervention to monitor status of clients in crisis.
• Monitors medications of all residents in accordance with the Adult residential medication policy and procedure.
• Teaches and assists all residents in areas of rehab including: nutrition and healthy living, meal preparation, hygiene, laundry, banking and budgeting, and basic home care skills.
• Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of a School of Nursing from an Accredited Nursing Program and RN Licensure.

Experience: Experience working with patients with substance use and mental health disorders. Experience working in a managed care environment.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: RN license to practice in State of CT.

Training: CPR & First Aid Certification required OR must obtain within 90 days of employment.

Compensation*: $63,634/minimum, and up commensurate upon experience (please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)

Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based off of relevant experience, as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. Many of our positions offer program/location differentials and/or sign-on incentives.
