Senior Mechanical Engineer

Abbott seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for product development in Burlington, Massachusetts. This role involves designing and developing mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems, guiding product development from concept through market release while mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, and processes
- Conduct feasibility studies and develop new concepts from initial design through market release
- Utilize simulation and modeling tools to evaluate designs and maintain detailed documentation
- Mentor less-experienced staff and provide work direction to technical contributors
- Review vendor activities and coordinate development efforts across cross-functional teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years mechanical engineering or product development experience
- Proficiency with CAD modeling and drawing creation (Solidworks or equivalent)
- Ability to support Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems development teams
- Full-time on-site work capability
- Familiarity with FDA regulations, GMP, and ISO 13485 preferred
Compensation: $78,000–$156,000 base
