You'll play a key leadership role in shaping backend architecture, data infrastructure, and engineering best practices as we grow.You'll collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, and Data teams to deliver performant, reliable systems that process billions in transactions and empower thousands of merchants. This is a high-impact role suited for engineers who thrive on ownership, enjoy tackling complex systems challenges, and value elegant, maintainable solutions.What You'll Do:Design and scale backend services that power Parker's financial products and APIs.Lead architectural decisions to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability across our systems.Build and maintain services in a modern cloud-native environment (Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)Partner with product and infrastructure teams to design secure, intuitive APIs and data models.Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, technical mentorship, and architectural guidance.Identify performance bottlenecks and lead initiatives to improve reliability, observability, and system design.Contribute to the evolution of Parker's technical roadmap and long-term engineering vision.Basic Qualifications:7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems in production.Strong proficiency with Node.js and Typescript (or comparable backend languages such as Go, Java, or Python).Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), Docker, and Kubernetes.Familiarity with GraphQL, RESTful APIs, and event-driven architectures.Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.Who You Are:A technical leader who thrives in ownership-driven environments.A systems thinker who can balance speed, reliability, and maintainability.A mentor who enjoys helping teammates grow through thoughtful guidance.A pragmatic builder who can ship fast while maintaining high code quality.A problem solver with curiosity for how financial systems and data pipelines work at scale.Nice to Haves:Experience working in fintech, payments, or e-commerce infrastructure.Background in credit systems, ledgering, or transactional data modeling.Contributions to or interest in open source software.Experience in high-growth startup environments.
