Infusion RN - Per Diem - Montgomery

An Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse who coordinates and provides intermediate direct patient care to patients in the home or alternate infusion suites, ensuring patient safety and continuity of care under a physician’s plan of care. The role is performed under structured supervision of a designated supervisor. Job Responsibilities Initiates, develops, and implements the intermediate nursing plan of care, evaluating patient progress towards goals, and modifying treatment plans in response to changing patient status or physician orders. Assesses patient needs and physical status at each skilled visit, and re-evaluates needs throughout the care period. Obtains and clarifies physician orders, informs physician promptly of significant changes, and provides written summaries as required. Provides training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s to ensure patient safety and compliance. Delivers patient-centered education to patients and families to achieve independence with therapy. Communicates effectively and timely with clinical teams, medical providers, patients, and families to facilitate continuity of care. Prepares real-time clinical documentation during visits and submits it to the nursing department within established timelines for billing optimization. Coordinates discharge planning and prepares discharge summaries with patient instructions and thorough reports of care needs and progress. Demonstrates compliance with all agency operations, policies, procedures, and regulations. Maximizes work efficiency through technology use to validate orders and communicate patient care. Responds promptly to patient requests and initiates emergency procedures when necessary. Maintains ethical and professional conduct in all aspects of practice. Observes legal and ethical guidelines for confidentiality, including HIPAA regulations. Explains the scope of services and financial responsibilities to patients. Completes required training modules, in‑services, and continuing education to maintain competency and licensure. Provides oversight of paraprofessionals and assumes supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor or nurse manager, as applicable. Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and provides precepting, training, and mentoring to other nurses. Participates in nursing department on‑call responsibilities. Performs other related duties as directed by the supervisor. Additional Duties (If Applicable) Inserts PICC/Midlines per physician order. Troubleshoots and declots obstructed central line catheters. Monitors PICC/Midline and educates on line infection prevention and routine care. Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities. Basic Education And/or Experience Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice. Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience. Current CPR certification required. Basic Qualifications Demonstrated competency in patient care standards required for safe delivery of services and infusion skill sets applicable to agency programs and service needs. Required licensure to operate a motor vehicle in the state of practice with access to a vehicle for business travel and proof of liability insurance. Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications, with the ability to apply nursing technology tools to communicate and document care. Physical Demand Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (maximum 75 pounds) and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally. Physical demands may involve walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, pivoting, balancing, stooping, reaching overhead, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying. Exposure to blood, body fluids, potentially infectious materials, hazardous substances, needles, sharps, and unpredictable home environments. Safety requirements include closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves, and a functioning communication device. Travel Requirements Willing to travel up to 100% of the time within the Montgomery, Prattville, Selma area for business purposes. Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs) Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. 1–2 years of previous infusion nursing experience. Compensation Pay Range: $36.89–$61.49 per hour, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity.
