Candidate must have experience with government defense buying (FAR/DFAR). Job Summary The role performs specialized and diversified procurement functions necessary to supply materials in accordance with FAR and DFAR regulations, as well as corporate policies and procedures. Responsibilities include securing the lowest reasonable prices while ensuring maximum quality and on‑time delivery to support manufacturing operations. The position requires experience in high‑volume defense manufacturing and operates in a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities and Tasks Analyze multiple requirements to satisfy the needs of the requesting program or department. Place purchase orders as needed, and follow up on purchase orders, supplier contracts and material status. Assist colleagues in expediting delinquent shipments and resolving associated problems. Provide work direction to other employees within the department. Resolve supplier quality issues, purchase order accounting issues and problem receipts. Travel as required to meet with suppliers and other representatives to discuss and resolve matters that cannot be handled in the plant. Determine material requirements from engineering and production schedules and maintain inventory at appropriate levels. Exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions in line with company policies of ethical purchasing practices. Prepare management and analysis reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Perform other related duties as necessary to support the procurement department. Ensure compliance with FAR and DFAR regulated purchasing requirements. Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications BA/BS in a related field or equivalent years of experience. Minimum 3 years of experience in a related discipline. Experience with FAR/DFAR regulated purchasing and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Oracle Database Experience Preferred CPIM or CPM certification preferred within two years of position assignment. Skills and Abilities Thorough understanding of operations principles such as JIT, MRP and TQC. Demonstrated negotiation skills and successful outcomes. Potential to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. US Citizenship Is Required The successful candidate must be a U.S. citizen. Travel and Physical Requirements May require some travel. Work environment includes exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration and occasional extreme conditions. Positions require frequent sitting, standing, talking and communicating, as well as moving hands/fingers, feeling and reaching with arms. Ability to lift, bend or stoop up to 20 lbs is required.
