Registered Nurse (Transfer Coordinator)

Duties

Help Current, permanent GLA employees will be given the first consideration. Must submit most recent SF-50 to receive 1st consideration. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care.
  • Demonstrates leadership by involving others in improving care.
  • Leads change in practice by planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating guidelines, protocols and standards in collaboration with leadership.
  • Supports, participates, and contributes to educational programs for staff at the unit/service/departmental level.
  • Uses technology and educational methodologies to enhance the transfer of learning.
  • Supports and enhances client self-determination.
  • Serves as a resource for clients and staff in addressing ethical issues.
  • Participates in consultations to health care teams by analyzing ethical issues and providing guidance as appropriate for concerns related to health informatics.
  • Advocates for and demonstrates ethical behavior related to privacy, security and confidentiality when handling data, information, and knowledge.
  • Safeguards patient privacy and maintains confidentiality of all electronic and printed patient information according to VHA information security requirements.
  • Initiates and uses positive, effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation, teamwork, and effective interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrates professional behavior, good interpersonal relationships, and effective communication skills with co-workers.
  • Uses group process to identify, analyze, resolve care problems.
  • Shares knowledge both formally and informally as a resource person or consultant.
  • Interacts in a professional manner, utilizing effective communication skills.
  • Practices and fosters in staff the belief that caregiving is best achieved through kindness and compassion, and families, friends and loved ones are vital to the healing process (Patient Centered Care; and other customer service philosophies).
  • Uses evidenced based knowledge to initiate or change work group practice.
  • Uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in informatics practice.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary committees, task forces, or groups to improve patient care at the program or organizational level.

Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Rotating 8 hours tours between 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
