OSP Field Inspector Job Summary We are seeking an experienced OSP Field Inspector to support the successful deployment of broadband infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for overseeing and inspecting outside plant (OSP) construction activities performed by subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications. The ideal candidate will serve as a critical link between field construction crews, project management teams, and stakeholders, helping drive quality execution across all phases of the build process. This position requires a strong understanding of fiber optic construction practices, field inspection procedures, and applicable safety and construction standards. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to support project schedules, work plans, and construction activities. Conduct routine field inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, construction standards, and safety requirements. Monitor construction progress and workmanship quality, identifying and documenting deviations, deficiencies, or potential risks. Review and interpret construction drawings, engineering plans, and technical documentation to verify proper implementation in the field. Inspect fiber optic installation activities, including cable placement, routing, splicing, and termination, ensuring adherence to industry standards. Oversee excavation and directional boring operations to confirm proper procedures are followed and to minimize damage to existing infrastructure. Verify the proper installation and placement of hand‑holes, vaults, pedestals, and related network infrastructure components. Inspect grounding systems and confirm that electrical safety measures comply with applicable codes and project requirements. Evaluate restoration efforts to ensure affected areas are returned to acceptable conditions in accordance with project standards. Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, field notes, and photographic evidence of completed work. Communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, project teams, and other stakeholders to address issues, provide updates, and facilitate timely resolutions. Participate in project meetings and provide status updates related to field activities, quality observations, and construction progress. Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company policies. Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to broadband and fiber optic infrastructure deployment. Qualifications Experience in OSP construction inspection, fiber optic deployment, telecommunications construction, or a related field. Working knowledge of outside plant construction practices, including excavation, directional boring, fiber placement, hand‑hole installation, grounding, and restoration activities. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility plans, and technical specifications. Familiarity with fiber optic construction standards and quality assurance practices. Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed records and inspection documentation. Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders. Proficiency with standard office applications and field reporting tools. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required. OSHA safety training or other relevant telecommunications certifications are a plus. Preferred Experience Experience supporting broadband expansion or fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) initiatives.
