State of New Hampshire Job Posting NH Fish and Game Department, Inland Fisheries Division/Region 4 Office 15 Ashbrook Court, Keene, NH 03431 Biologist II Position #13897 Pay: $25.40/hour - $34.14/hour Summary Plan, initiate, coordinate, administer and review warmwater fisheries management and research projects using established professional standards; coordinate the fishing tournament program including improvements and rule changes; collaborate with tournament directors and applicants so management changes reflect current circumstances; work with local, regional, national and federal partners to coordinate fisheries management, habitat management and conservation programs within Region 4; assess the status and trends in regional inland fisheries populations and habitat; identify and resolve regional fisheries problems; and promote the objectives of the Department. Responsibilities Plan and develop work within the warmwater fisheries research and management program to meet program objectives statewide. Coordinate and direct field staff to complete both warmwater fisheries program and Region 4 work plans. Collect, analyze and evaluate statewide scientific data collected on the warmwater fisheries research and management program, as well as other Region 4 projects. Review research data for accuracy and analysis and make recommendations on the scientific merit of research data to meet warmwater program and Region 4 objectives. Communicate within the Department, to other agencies, and to the public; represent the Fish and Game Department at public meetings and professional conferences regarding the warmwater fisheries research and management program. Prepare scientific reports on results of warmwater fisheries research and management programs, and supply program leaders with data collection summaries performed in Region 4 related to other programs. Purchase equipment necessary to carry out the warmwater fisheries research and management program statewide and other Region 4 work needs. Directly supervise full‑time and temporary staff, other professionals and volunteers conducting work related to the warmwater fisheries research and management program and other efforts in Region 4. Coordinate all fishing tournament rules, permitting, data collection and analysis, and communicate with Tournament Directors; act as the liaison for the Department where necessary. Provide technical advice and assistance on any subject related to the warmwater fisheries research and management program to the public and municipal, media, education and inter‑agency professionals. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 1.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, natural resources, biology, botany, wildlife, forestry, hydrology, or a related field. Other Requirements Must be willing to travel throughout the state and work on occasional weekends and evenings. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the agency. Regular fieldwork, including moderate physical labor. Must be able to work outdoors for long hours in varied weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Strong interpersonal communication skills for interacting with constituents, landowners, state and local officials, academic circles and other stakeholders. Ability to navigate varied and rugged terrain, experience with outdoor safety skills, and competence with compass, maps and surveys. AFS Certified Associate Fisheries Professional desired.
