Job Title: Commissioning Engineer / Technician Overview

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer/Technician to support commissioning of utility and control systems for large-scale advanced technology and data center facilities. This role works closely with construction, design, and operations teams to ensure system readiness, resolve technical issues, and deliver high-quality automation solutions.

• Coordinate commissioning activities, schedules, and technician support
• Track and resolve commissioning issues impacting project quality and timelines
• Perform system walkdowns, testing, start-ups, and I/O checkouts
• Troubleshoot control and utility systems and perform root cause analysis
• Support PLC programming/configuration (Rockwell PLC5, ControlLogix)
• Review technical documents (P&IDs, schematics) for installation accuracy
• Integrate BMS and SCADA systems
• Train contractors on commissioning tools and manage system access
• Provide project updates and technical reports to stakeholders

• 2+ years commissioning or construction experience (I&C or electrical systems)
• 3+ years working with control systems (data center or similar)
• Experience with PLC programming and Rockwell Automation platforms
• Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Experience supporting system start-up and commissioning activities
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s preferred)

• Experience with BMS, SCADA, and HMI systems
• Experience in commissioning industrial construction
• Familiarity with electrical/control system troubleshooting

• Onsite in Abilene, TX
• ~50 hours/week supporting construction and commissioning activities
• Hands-on work in industrial/data center environments with exposure to HVAC, electrical, and control systems

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Abilene, TX.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $58.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Abilene,TX.
