Mill Machinist

Mill Machinist and Toolmaker (2nd and 3rd Shift)Join a growing, climate-controlled manufacturing facility as a Mill Machinist or Toolmaker on 2nd or 3rd shift. You will work with relatively new CNC milling equipment and tooling in a large, modern plant expansion, focusing on precision machining, tool making, and maintenance of production machinery rather than building maintenance.ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and adjust CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to specifications.Perform milling and general machining operations, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to safety standards.Fabricate, repair, and maintain tools, dies, and fixtures required for production processes.Conduct mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.Inspect parts and tooling using appropriate measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to prioritize work orders and ensure equipment reliability.Maintain organized work areas, follow standard operating procedures, and complete documentation related to machining and maintenance tasks.Support occasional building-related tasks only when necessary, such as covering for team members who are out, while primarily focusing on machinery.Essential SkillsMinimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician working with production machinery.Hands-on experience with mill machining operations, including setup and operation of CNC milling machines.Proficiency in tool making, tool and die work, and tooling fabrication and repair.Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on industrial equipment.Basic electrical knowledge related to machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing environment with machining and maintenance responsibilities.Comfort working on 2nd or 3rd shift in a large production facility.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience maintaining relatively new manufacturing equipment in a high-volume environment.Background in environments such as food manufacturing or other demanding industrial settings.Personal hobbies or hands-on projects related to mechanics, machining, or electrical work that reinforce practical skills.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in both machining and maintenance tasks.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.Why Work Here?Enjoy a modern, climate-controlled facility with relatively new equipment and a recently completed 25,000-square-foot expansion that brings in new machinery and technology. You will work on 2nd or 3rd shift in a non-food production environment, which often attracts experienced technicians from more demanding food manufacturing settings. A separate team handles building maintenance tasks such as toilets, lights, and doors, so you can concentrate mainly on production machinery, with only occasional exceptions. The facility supports industrial work attire, including appropriate work boots, with reimbursement available for boots, tools, and glasses.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
