Certified Medical Assistant II

High Desert Medical Group is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant II to work in our Urgent Care. CMA will be responsible for coordination and delivery of patient care from registration to discharge. CMA is responsible for duties such as administering medication, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, and processing referrals. Maintain a professional, positive and caring attitude at all times.

Summary of Duties:

• Assist members to exam rooms and obtain complete and accurate vital signs.
• Administer medications per scope of practice; adhering to five rights of medication administration.
• Obtain and document all pertinent information in each member's chart/EMR record.
• Anticipate, assist and perform procedures ordered by the provider.
• Maintain timely member flow and room availability.
• Reinforce member education and participate in member teaching.
• Stock and maintain exam rooms, nursing stations and individual work stations.
• Participate in unit duties such as, cleaning and sterilizing instruments and ordering supplies.
• Maintain a current and accurate surgical log, procedure log, lab log, and member tickler files, as appropriate.
• Maintain and monitor all equipment used for member care and testing. Report any discrepancy to supervisor.
• Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
• Actively participate in nursing QI by identifying problems, providing solutions and evaluating outcomes.
• Ensure appropriate handling and accurate documentation of all medications ordered by the provider.
• Ensure accurate and timely follow-through with all referrals generated.
• Utilize computers as they pertain to the job at hand.
• Exercise universal precautions in all member care.
• Exhibit competency in all aspects of member care provided in Urgent Care department.
• Follow and adhere to HDMG's standards of attendance policy, as it is pertinent to be available to assist nursing staff and to deliver optimal efficient care to our members by providing excellent customer service and ensuring HDMG's promises are fulfilled to all members.
• Initiate and appropriately participate in a Code White, Code Blue, Code Red and Code Grey within the guidelines of scope of practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $25.06 $33.43/hour, non-exempt; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Maintain a current Certified Medical Assistant certification. (State or National certification)
• Maintain a current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Maintain a current venipuncture certification.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Knowledge of insurance plans, both HMO and FFS.
• Knowledge of the referral system process.
• Must be computer literate.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Bilingual preferred.
• Ability to handle and prioritize tasks in order to meet all given deadlines and productivity goals.
• Ability to responsibly handle matters of a confidential nature.
• Ability to work in a multi-task, high-productive and fast paced environment
