You will provide business partnering to HR and finance senior leadership teams. Additionally, this position will lead the Operating plan process, develop deliverables, and partner with functional leadership to ensure financial discipline, optimize costs, and align investments with company strategy. Here, you will make an impact by:Leading the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning processes for corporate functions.Developing and maintaining detailed expense models, including headcount, compensation, and operating expensesProviding variance analysis (actual vs. plan/forecast) and clear insights into cost driversCoordinating with CSS (corporate staff services) team and Finance COE all forecasting and Operating Plan deliverablesActing as the primary finance partner to leaders across the following Corporate Staff functions (HR, Finance)Challenging spending assumptions and providing recommendations to optimize efficiency and ROISupporting strategic initiatives such as workforce planning, system investments, and transformation programsYour Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (completed and verified prior to start) Seven (7) years of FP&A or corporate finance experience in a private, public, government or military environment Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Monitor operating expenses and ensure adherence to budget targetsIdentify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across functionsEstablish governance and financial discipline over discretionary spendLead headcount forecast and analytics (hiring, attrition, productivity)Analyze labor cost trends and provide forward-looking insightsDeliver monthly and quarterly financial reports for corporate functions primarily HR and financeTrack key metrics such as cost per employee, functional cost ratios, and spend efficiency via bowlersPrepare executive-ready presentations for senior leadershipCollaborate with Accounting to ensure proper expense recognition and accrualsPartner with Procurement on vendor spend and contract optimizationPartner with finance COE to standardize and automatize reporting across functionsEnhance financial processes, reporting cadence, and forecast accuracyLeverage tools such as Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems for automation and insightsAutomatize reporting and use AI tools to enhance processes and analyticsImprove cost allocation methodologies and reporting transparencyExperience in department spending detailed analysisWork Location Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/internationalRelocation: Is not authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being 3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
