Procurement Buyer

Procurement BuyerSamtec is looking for a procurement buyer to work in our Colorado Springs, CO facility. This is a day shift position. Hours are M-F 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Pay is $24.00 - $ 28.00 per hour plus applicable bonus and is commensurate with experience. Examples of typical duties will include compiling prints, requesting quotes, placing POs, communicating with vendors, following up on delivery dates, and coordinating shipping for equipment. This role will also include basic project and asset management. Communication and schedule management skills will be used daily when discussing requirements with internal customers and external vendors.Essential functions/responsibilities include:Responsible for quoting and placing PO's for custom tooling, equipment, hardware, and other miscellaneous items through global vendorsCommunicate with vendors to ensure on time delivery of components, provide updates to engineering team when there are delays or questions from the vendorCompile print packages with PDF's and solid models to send to vendors for quotingReview purchasing agreements with vendors to ensure terms meet Samtec requirementsEnsure equipment is set up with Samtec asset management systems correctlyOnboard new equipment through the Samtec tooling qualification processCoordinate shipping and crating for tooling and equipmentEnsure proper documentation of assets during equipment transfers.The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.Required experience:2 – 5 years' experience in similar purchasing role in a highly technical industryProfessional knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft OfficeDemonstrate ability to quickly learn job specific software packagesExperience procuring technical components and industrial equipmentKnowledge and understanding of terms and conditionsMechanical print reading skills requiredExcellent organizational, communication (both written and verbal), and people skillsMust be detail oriented and concerned with timely handling of requestsProject management training or experience is a plusStrong math skills preferredSolidworks and Solidworks PDM or other CAD software knowledge a plus for accumulation of drawing packages.Strong mechanical aptitude and experience procuring from machine shops is preferredEducation:High school diploma or equivalent is required.Training required:On the job training as appropriate.About Samtec: Founded in 1976, Samtec is a privately held, $800 million global manufacturer of a broad line of electronic interconnect solutions.
