Therapeutic Area / Department: Cardiometabolic Therapeutic Area - Early Discovery
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
Work Arrangement: Fully onsite
Contract Duration: 12 months
Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard daytime/business hours, approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM or 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Overtime / Weekend Work: No significant overtime or weekend work is expected.
The ideal candidate is an early-career scientist with a relevant bachelor's degree and solid hands-on research experience who is comfortable spending the majority of their time working at the bench. They will bring strong mammalian cell culture, in vitro pharmacology, and plate-based assay experience, including experience working with compounds and generating or evaluating dose-response data. The manager is open to candidates from either academic or industry research environments and places greater emphasis on demonstrated technical ability, hands-on experience, and independence than on a specific industry background. In vivo or small-animal experience would be beneficial but is not required. The candidate should be genuinely interested in a hands-on Associate Scientist contract position, be able to take direction and collaborate with the team, and be capable of becoming productive with reasonable onboarding and training.
Job Details: Bachelors' degree & 2 YOETo perform experiments, organize data and analyze results. With minimal supervision, plans, conducts or monitors experiments, records and organizes data, analyses results, generates robust and reliable data. Ensures contracted studies are conducted in compliance with the respective protocol and applicable guidelines and regulations.
Basic quanlifications: degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related life sciences disciplines; experience in a Biopharmaceutical working environment.
Preferred quantifications and skills: 1) Hands-on experience with in vivo and in vitro pharmacology skills; capable to independently design, implement and analyze studies with proper controls and generate reproducible high quality data. 2) Technical mastery of general molecular biology and cell-signaling analysis techniques including immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry, RT-qPCR, immunoprecipitation, and ELISA. Responsibilities
include: 1) Follows established experimental design and protocols to generate reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision. 2) Plans, conducts, analyzes and records experiments, and provides interpretation of data. 3) Review literature to identify and effectively transfers experimental methods to the lab and makes modifications as necessary. 4) Develops and implements new protocols to address biological questions. 5) Engages coworkers in scientific discussions and communicates data/interpretation to program teams. 6) Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of standard laboratory equipment and with one or more major laboratory techniques. 7) Effectively trouble-shoots equipment and experimental difficulties. 8) Contributes to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions and/or patents. 9) Follow best practise in ELN entry, data recording, safety and compliances.
