IT Database Administrator

Salary: $73,000 - 113,000 per year Requirements:

• We need 5+ years of hands-on database administration experience across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB.
• We expect strong Azure expertise, including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerts, Key Vault, Private Link, VNets, RBAC, managed identities, and Defender for Cloud.
• We require proficiency with automation and scripting, especially PowerShell and Azure CLI, with Python or Bash as a plus.
• We look for experience with infrastructure as code such as Bicep, ARM, or Terraform, along with CI/CD integration in Azure DevOps or GitHub.
• We want a proven background in security hardening, auditing, and compliance-focused database administration.
• We need a solid understanding of networking concepts that affect database performance and connectivity, including latency, bandwidth, DNS, and private endpoints.
• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) is strongly preferred.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) is a plus.
• MongoDB DBA and/or PostgreSQL certifications are advantageous.
• Redis certification or equivalent practical experience is appreciated.

• We will design, implement, secure, and optimize cloud database platforms that support mission-critical applications.
• We will provision, configure, and maintain Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB environments.
• We will manage backups, restores, disaster recovery, geo-replication, and failover procedures, including RPO/RTO planning and runbooks.
• We will monitor health, capacity, and cost, and set up alerting and proactive remediation through Azure monitoring tools.
• We will maintain schema updates, index strategies, and routine maintenance tasks such as reindexing and PostgreSQL vacuum/analyze operations.
• We will tune queries, execution plans, indexing, partitioning, caching, and platform settings to improve performance and reliability.
• We will optimize Cosmos DB partitioning, throughput, consistency, and indexing configurations.
• We will implement least-privilege access, RBAC/ABAC, managed identities, Azure AD integration, and Privileged Identity Management.
• We will enforce encryption, manage secrets in Key Vault, and configure network isolation using VNets, private endpoints, firewall rules, and NSGs.
• We will enable auditing, masking, and threat detection while supporting compliance reviews with InfoSec, risk, and audit teams.
• We will automate administrative work using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and additional scripting as needed.
• We will build infrastructure as code for database provisioning and configuration and integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines.
• We will plan and execute migrations between on-premises and Azure platforms or across Azure services, then validate results after cutover.
• We will document retention, archival, and lifecycle practices, and create operational runbooks and knowledge base content.
• We will troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement lasting fixes.
• We will partner with application, SRE, architecture, security, and platform teams to deliver stable, scalable solutions.
• We will advise on schema design, data modeling, capacity planning, multi-tenant architecture, sharding, and high-availability patterns.
