Data Migration Engineer

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on TSQL: complex queries, stored procedures, and functions (not ORM-generated SQL).
• Proven data migration / ETL experience, especially against legacy or poorly documented source schemas.
• Ability to reverse-engineer and document undocumented legacy databases.
• Query performance tuning through execution plan analysis and indexing strategy.
• Design of incremental, idempotent, re-runnable migration processes.
• Transaction handling and concurrency control (locking, isolation levels).
• Data validation and consistency: reconciliation scripts (source vs. target counts, checksums) and a sharp analyst eye for numbers that don't add up.
• Performance testing under real production volume.
• Special data types in SQL Server: temporal tables and JSON.
• Familiarity with jobs/schedulers (SQL Server Agent) or other orchestrators to automate migrations.
• Experience designing incremental pipelines at scale.
• Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, to support documentation, issue reporting, and cross-team collaboration.
• Advanced English level.
