Senior Accountant

Our construction client is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join their accounting team on a contract basis. This role will be heavily focused on full-cycle general ledger accounting , month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting support.

The ideal candidate is a proactive accounting professional who can quickly learn new processes, communicate effectively, work independently, and provide detailed examples of prior accomplishments. Candidates with public accounting experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting activities
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end close processes
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances
• Support financial reporting and audit requests
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Collaborate with accounting and finance team members on special projects and process improvements
• Provide ad hoc financial and accounting support as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 4+ years of accounting experience
• Strong experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
