Occupational Therapist - Districtwide

Seeking an Occupational Therapist for a full time position, beginning the 2026-27 school year. Must have Kentucky Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapy.

Position Purpose : Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Occupational Therapist (OT) provides evaluation, consultation, and therapeutic services to students within the school setting in order to support participation and success in educational activities and routines.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluation and Assessment
  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
  • Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized assessments.
  • Analyze evaluation results and prepare written reports with educationally relevant recommendations.
  • Participate in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and eligibility determinations.
Direct and Indirect Therapy Services
  • Provide direct occupational therapy services to students individually or in groups as outlined in IEPs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and measurable goals aligned with educational needs.
  • Support student development in areas including fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, self-help skills, functional mobility, classroom participation, and adaptive behavior.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate service documentation.
  • Adjust interventions based on student performance, progress monitoring data, and educational needs.
Collaboration and Consultation
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and other staff members to support student success.
  • Consult with school personnel regarding classroom accommodations, assistive technology, sensory strategies, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and recommendations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and professional learning activities.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Maintain documentation and records in compliance with district procedures, IDEA, Section 504, Medicaid billing requirements (if applicable), and state regulations.
  • Ensure timelines for evaluations, progress reports, and IEP documentation are met.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
