Essential Functions Manage classroom ensuring compliance with MSDE‑OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures. Provide a welcoming and friendly classroom environment for children, parents and visitors. Maintain attractive and current classroom/hallway displays and an informational Parent Board, updated regularly. Create and implement thorough, timely lesson plans that are age‑appropriate and stimulating in accordance with weekly themes and the curriculum; manage effective classroom transitions. Assist and supervise children during all activities; counsel children as needed using positive and appropriate discipline techniques. Ensure that appearance, cleanliness and safety of the classroom are appropriately maintained. Accurately complete all classroom paperwork, e.g., daily reports, accident reports, attendance records. Provide support and direction to assistant teachers to ensure orderly classroom function. Communicate effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on their child’s development and classroom happenings. Identify opportunities and/or problems in the classroom and school and work with the assistant teacher and/or school director to resolve. Qualifications Physical demands: frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting and carrying; ability to lift 50 lb. Education/Experience: minimum 90 clock hours in Child Development and Curriculum Planning with 1 year of experience in a licensed preschool classroom, or alternatively 1 year college (30 semester hours) or a combination of classroom experience & college hours; 9 clock hours of training in communicating with staff, parents and the public required.
