Urgent Care Clinical Therapist (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC) - Full Time - Riverdale, NY

Summary Under the direction of the Senior Director for Mental and School Health and as a part of a multidisciplinary team the Urgent Care Mental Health Specialist will provide on-site and remote direct therapeutic services to pediatric patients, ages 5–26, and their families, and adults, including assessments, treatment plans and discharge planning. The specialist will also engage with staff and families in the urgent care center that they are covering to provide information, education, brief consultations and referrals for patients and staff seeking assistance with mental health issues. The specialist will be available for consultations both virtually and in person when not otherwise in treatment sessions. The specialist will be proactively engaged with families and staff to promote mental health services, provide timely information and provide education and direction for staff. The specialist will also provide staff and families with referrals to PM Mental Health services or other needed services as appropriate. Locations: Riverdale, Mamaroneck, Forest Hills, Syosset, Selden. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:00 pm–8:00 pm or 1:00 pm–9:00 pm shifts. Part‑time positions (20+ hours) available and benefits eligible. Description Provides pediatric and adult mental health therapy as part of a large, multi‑disciplinary behavioral health team. Provides highest quality therapy services to patients. Participates in clinical team meetings with Urgent Care and MH staff. Maintains weekly scheduled therapy appointments. Completes required documentation and paperwork including clinical assessments, treatment planning, and updates of patient medical records within 48 hours of patient visits. Possesses excellent communication and engagement skills. Utilizes standardized tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, etc.) to identify patients that can benefit from ongoing MH services and helps families navigate treatment. Can make rapid assessments and follow through on recommendations in a timely manner. Demonstrates deep knowledge of various mental health issues and symptoms and assists staff in UC to identify patients demonstrating mental health needs. Demonstrates deep knowledge of child development and assists families and staff who verbalize concerns to determine appropriate assessment and next steps. Can professionally represent PM Mental Health when meeting with local providers, hospitals and payers. Can make independent clinical decisions with minimal guidance. Demonstrates deep understanding of the intersection of mental health and physical health issues. Expert in various modalities of short‑term therapy. Compensation Salary range: $70,000–$85,000. Compensation may vary within this range based on experience and location. Qualifications Must be independently licensed in the state of practice. Knowledge of medical terminology. Understanding of the roles of the healthcare team. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Deep understanding of the psychosocial aspects of illness and health. Experience with community facilities and resources for discharge planning. Superb written and verbal communication skills. Strong crisis intervention skills. Excellent short‑term counseling skills.
