Night Custodian

Custodial Position

Perform all phases of custodial duties as assigned by the Custodial Leads, Director and Assistant Director Of Operations and Maintenance and Building Principal. Maintain the facility in a safe, sanitary and aesthetic condition.

Primary Responsibilities

• Able to Arm and Disarm the building alarm.
• Lock and Unlock doors and keep a secure building.
• Put up and take down a flag as directed.
• Read district and department memorandums daily.
• Inspect and clear building entrances of snow and/or debris.
• Inspect for interior and exterior vandalism and report to the Custodial Leads.
• Verify that the heating and/or air conditioning are operational. Report malfunctions to the Maintenance Department and advice the Principal/Supervisor.
• Perform fire drills as directed.
• Dispose of all garbage, empty trash cans and replace liners.
• Vacuum and wet mop areas as needed.
• Clean and disinfect all washrooms.
• Report all corrective maintenance needs to the building or department secretary or submit work orders to the maintenance department.
• Report all personal injuries.
• Report and Tag all malfunctioning cleaning equipment for the warehouse.
• Order all custodial supplies and stock all custodial closets.
• Review the school and outside group activities calendar Perform set-ups and teardowns for school and outside group activities.
• Receive and deliver all incoming materials.
• Receive, count and assist in milk distribution.
• Remove refuse from the exterior of the facility.
• Advise facility needs to other custodial staff.
• Complete reports as required.
• Perform minor corrective maintenance.
• Clean windows in the entrances and office areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Custodial Leads and the Director and Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance.

Minimum Requirements:

• Experience in custodial services.
• Ability to coordinate work schedules.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to mentor, coach and train.
• Must have extensive knowledge of small machines, including their care, maintenance and repair.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
