Temporary Bartender: University of Notre Dame

Temporary Bartender: University of Notre Dame

Temporary Bartender (Legends) is a part-time, temporary and on-call position with the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. The university is hiring bartenders for Legends, a hospitality and dining unit within the VP-UOES-Hospitality & Dining division. The position pays $8.78 per hour plus tips. The work includes drink service, guest orders, bar stocking, point-of-sale payments, and compliance with alcohol-service and sanitation rules.

Flexible shifts include evenings and weekends. Bartending experience is preferred, while drink-recipe knowledge and bar-operations knowledge are required. The role requires the ability to obtain an Indiana bartending license, meet the state's minimum legal age for alcohol service, communicate clearly with guests and coworkers, and work as part of a team. The University of Notre Dame is currently hiring for this opening.

Bar Service At Legends

The Legends bartender prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests. Guest service includes welcoming people, taking drink orders, and handling limited food orders. The role also includes answering service needs while keeping the bar ready for the next order.

Bar supplies require regular attention during a shift. The bartender stocks the work area, reports restocking needs, keeps service surfaces clean, and uses a point-of-sale system to process credit-card payments. Health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol-service rules apply throughout the shift.

Skills Used Behind The Bar

Drink-recipe knowledge helps the bartender produce consistent orders and answer basic menu questions. Bar-operations knowledge covers stocking, payment handling, work-area organization, and the service sequence between orders.

Guest contact requires clear communication and a positive team attitude. Bartenders work with hospitality and dining coworkers while maintaining service standards during busy periods. Previous bartending experience is preferred, but the record also identifies the operational knowledge required for the position.

Evening And Weekend Shifts

Legends schedules flexible hours that include evenings and weekends. The temporary, on-call structure gives the unit coverage for changing hospitality and dining needs rather than a fixed weekday schedule.

Shift availability is part of the job's operating requirements. A candidate who can work evening or weekend service can meet the schedule stated for the opening. The position remains part-time, and the published pay rate is $8.78 per hour plus tips.

Indiana Alcohol Service

The bartender must be able to obtain an Indiana bartending license and meet the state's minimum legal age for alcohol service. Alcohol-service rules apply alongside health, safety, and sanitation requirements at the bar.

Responsible service depends on accurate drink preparation, careful guest interaction, and attention to consumption-related rules. The role combines those duties with POS payments, bar stocking, and cleanliness so the service area remains ready throughout a shift.

Notre Dame Hospitality Work

The position belongs to the University of Notre Dame's VP-UOES-Hospitality & Dining division and the Legends unit identified as 55135. That structure places the bartender within an institutional hospitality operation rather than an independent bar.

The Notre Dame location connects guest-facing beverage service with university dining operations. Hospitality staff handle orders, payments, supplies, and service standards in the same work cycle, while the part-time schedule covers the evening and weekend periods named for this opening.

The role's first working priorities are beverage preparation, guest orders, bar supplies, and payment accuracy. Indiana licensing and alcohol-service eligibility must be settled before the bartender begins serving guests.
