We offer plenty of opportunities for personal growth and professional development.Pay and Benefits:Competitive Pay: Starting pay for a new Communications Officer is $42,619.20 a year. Lateral Communications Officers are highly encouraged to apply with starting wages dependent on experience. We offer paid overtime. Communications Officers are eligible to receive predetermined hourly increases for certifications and educational degrees.Paid Insurance Premiums: The City of Rawlins pays all employee insurance premiums, a savings of $320 a month and $3840 a year for a family.Pension: You are eligible for a 20-year retirement at 50% of your top five earning years, 62.5% at 25 years, and 75% after 30 years.No State Income Tax: Citizens of Wyoming do not pay personal or corporate state income taxes, no retirement income taxes, and enjoy low property and sales tax rates.Paid Academy: All new Communications Officers will attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy. The Rawlins Police Department pays for the academy tuition while also paying the Communication Officer's salary.Life InsuranceSick Leave15 Vacation Days and 6 Holidays per yearDental and Vision Coverage availableAll necessary equipment and training provided Job Duties:We are looking for dedicated individuals to perform various communication duties and maintain public safety. The communications officer's responsibilities will include analyzing and transmitting appropriate information to law enforcement, fire, ambulance and other personnel. Communications Officers are responsible for answering 911 lines and non-emergent lines and taking the appropriate action for the caller by dispatching the appropriate agency.To be successful as a communications officer, you should have the ability to remain level-headed in stressful situations. An outstanding Communications Officer should be intuitive and able to exercise sound judgment.Record calls and activitiesMaintains records of cases and activitiesMaintain confidential informationInterviewing callers to determine their needsOperates NCIC/NLETS computer terminal and auxiliary equipment, pagers, computers, and a wide variety of office equipmentProvides general assistance to the public in preparing complaints and reports and in providing informationResponding to emergency and non-emergency situations.Requirements:18 Years OldHigh School Diploma or evidence of an equivalent achievementU.S. CitizenStrong Moral CharacterNo felony or domestic violence convictionsSalary:Grade 9, starting at $42,619.20 annuallyApplicants MUST complete and submit the Rawlins Police Department Application.
