Job Title: RN Oncology Infusion Clinic Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology (Adult) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8-12 hours, varying shifts, including weekends and holidays Experience: Minimum 1 year of chemotherapy experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: - Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association - ACLS (American Heart Association) - Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration - Oncology Nursing Society - ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate - Oncology Nursing Society Must-Have: - Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures - Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services - Good verbal and written communication skills - Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered. Consults with other medical personnel and provides expert information about chemotherapy and side effects. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Assists physician during conscious sedation and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medications as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently and interacts with family and patient in sharing care plans. Informs patient and family of clinic procedures and provides chemotherapy-related educational information. Answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment. Assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with patients after clinic visits. Performs other duties as assigned.
