As part of a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, and technical leaders, you’ll contribute to customer-facing applications, internal tools, and backend services that support critical business functions across the company. We’re seeking engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, building reliable systems, and collaborating closely with teammates to deliver meaningful business impact. Depending on team placement, you’ll work on a mix of new product development, platform enhancements, system integrations, and modernization efforts that help us deliver a seamless experience for customers, merchants, and internal stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to work across a modern technology stack, contribute to both new and existing systems, and help shape solutions in a fast-moving environment. Success in this position requires curiosity, strong technical fundamentals, and the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases while continuously improving the systems around you. What You’ll Do Build and Deliver Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIsBuild integrations with internal and third-party systemsContribute to customer-facing applications and internal tools using modern frontend technologiesWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested codeParticipate in the design and implementation of distributed systems, workflows, and event-driven architecturesSupport initiatives that improve performance, reliability, and scalability across the platform Collaborate and Contribute Partner with Product, Design, Compliance, and Engineering teammates to deliver high-quality solutionsParticipate in technical design discussions and architecture reviewsConduct and receive code reviews with a focus on continuous improvementContribute actively to Agile development processes, including planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinementShare knowledge and collaborate across teams to solve complex business and technical challenges Maintain and Improve Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability best practicesSupport operational excellence through troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysisIdentify technical debt and opportunities for system improvementsContribute to security, compliance, and audit requirements as appropriateLeverage modern development tools, including AI-assisted engineering tools, to improve productivity and code quality About You 2–5 years of professional software engineering experienceExperience building backend services using GolangWorking knowledge of REST APIs, authentication mechanisms, and API testing toolsExperience developing web applications using modern frontend frameworks such as React and TypeScriptFamiliarity with cloud platforms and containerized environments, preferably AWS and KubernetesUnderstanding of software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, and CI/CDExperience working with relational and/or NoSQL databasesAbility to navigate existing codebases and contribute effectively to both new and established systemsStrong communication and collaboration skillsDesire to learn, grow, and take ownership of technical solutions Preferred Qualifications Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging patternsExperience in fintech, lending, payments, e-commerce, or other highly regulated industries Familiarity with observability and monitoring platformsExperience working with microservices architecturesKnowledge of cloud security and secrets managementInterest in leveraging AI tools to accelerate software development Location: Richmond, VA; Arlington, VA; or Remote (U.S.). Associates near one of our office locations may work in-office, hybrid, or remotely. Remote opportunities are available to candidates throughout the United States.Salary Range: $115,000-$141,000 per year (depending on experience and location)Additional Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in company bonus plan. The final salary offer will depend on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and geographic location.
