Lead Facility Maintenance TechnicianThe Lead Facility Maintenance Technician is the senior technical authority for all building systems and trades, combining expert-level hands-on capability with leadership responsibilities. This role oversees daily maintenance operations, trains and mentors technicians, ensures quality workmanship, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex troubleshooting across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, mechanical systems, and building operations. The Lead Technician sets the technical standard for the team, drives continuous improvement, and ensures safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.Experience, Education & Job RequirementsDemonstrated technical training and hands-on proficiency across multiple trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and mechanical systems.Proven experience serving as the technical escalation point for complex multi-trade issues.Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians.Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in commercial or industrial oil field facility maintenanceMinimum of 3+ years within a lead or leadership roleCurrent valid driver's license with a clean driving record,(commercial license may be required)Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and WordTechnical proficiency with work order management systems (CMMS)Current EPA 608 certification (state licensing is a plus but not required)High school diploma or GED equivalent required; associate's degree or vocational/technical school diploma preferredMust pass a criminal background check and drug screeningKey CompetenciesMust be able to work in a collaborative / safety conscious environment. Promote a safe work environment throughout the facility and complete all safety training on timeBring a professional inclusive attitude, willing to help others as needed for team success.Willingly accepts and assists with all assigned tasks, demonstrating flexibility, accountability, and a team-first mindset.Multi-Trade Mastery – Broad, advanced knowledge across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, mechanical systems, and building operations.Technical Leadership & Mentorship – Trains, coaches, and develops technicians to improve skill level, safety performance, and troubleshooting capability.Quality Assurance & Workmanship Oversight – Reviews completed work for accuracy, safety, and compliance; ensures all tasks meet company standards.Team Coordination & Direction – Assigns tasks, sets priorities, and ensures technicians understand expectations and procedures.Primary Escalation Point – Serves as the go-to expert for complex troubleshooting across all trades.Ability to communicate professionally and clearly with outside stakeholders as well as internal team members Foster a safe and professional work environment.Must be able to articulate notes and record time.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesPrimary RoleLead, mentor, and train maintenance technicians across all trades, ensuring consistent skill development and safe work practices.Perform quality inspections on completed work orders to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance.Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex troubleshooting across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, and mechanical systems.Guide technicians through root-cause analysis and corrective action development.Support onboarding and skill development for new technicians.Coordinate with the Planner/Scheduler to ensure work orders are properly scoped, sequenced, and staffed.Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include packaging and handling machinery, large air compressors, plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop equipment, grounds equipment, and HVAC systems among othersAssist with installation and modification of building equipment and systemsRespond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests as assignedComply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencyLeverage knowledge of past projects as well as new methodologies & technologies for use on project scoping through quotation and performanceSecondary RoleReplace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and can paint walls, piping, floors and equipmentInspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions, perform both reactive & preventative maintenanceMaintain and operate fire and life safety systems such as fire alarm systems, fire pumps and related fire protection system equipmentPossess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenanceComply with company dress code while working and maintain a neat and clean appearance while on the property at times other than working hoursLeadership & Oversight ResponsibilitiesProvide daily direction, guidance, and support to maintenance technicians.Train technicians in multi-trade skills, safety procedures, troubleshooting methods, and CMMS documentation.Review and approve complex work orders, ensuring proper scope, materials, and methods.Conduct periodic skills assessments and recommend training plans for technicians.Ensure all team members maintain accurate documentation within the CMMS.Act as the senior technical representative during audits, inspections, and client interactions.Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.Work Environment – Physical DemandsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This role operates in a professional office environment as well as industrial oil field type environments both indoors and outside during hot and cold climates. This role routinely uses maintenance tools and personnel lifts and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers to accomplish tasks. Extend hands and arms in multiple directions to perform tasks, Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to fifty pounds. May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations (including overtime type assignments); may require shift work and / or stand-by on-call duties.
