LVN Sr. Licensed Vocational Nurse - Urology Job Description Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the Urology clinic, the LVN performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of patient care. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparing and assisting with urology examinations, administering medications, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, providing patient education, and assisting with rooming and completing vitals when needed. The role requires initiative, the ability to work in a busy Urology clinic, prioritize critical demands, and collaborate in a team environment. It also includes pre‑procedure data collection, assisting physicians and team during procedures, and assisting in the post‑procedure recovery area. The position, functioning within the state of California and UCSD scope of practice, also administers medications, participates in patient and family education before and after procedures, assists with sterile processing of instruments, and manages room turnover, all in compliance with UCSD MCPs. Minimum Qualifications Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with a commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date. A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience. In‑depth Urological Provider and Nurse Clinic Procedure experience within the last 6 months. Proficient at performing IC Treatments in a fast‑paced, high‑volume clinic environment. Demonstrated ability to work with precision and patience while delivering high‑quality, compassionate care across diverse patient populations. Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual: English/Spanish. ACLS and/or ART training. Ambulatory Care experience. Experience with Urology nursing procedures such as catheter changes and bladder installations. Experience with sterile processing of instruments. Experience with urology procedures, including prostate biopsies and cystoscopies. Experience with EPIC/electronic medical records. Special Conditions Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment screening. Pay Transparency Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65 Compliance & Policies All employees must comply with the University of California’s Policy on Vaccination Programs. Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) require hands‑on practice and an in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
