About the Role Our client, a leading catering enterprise operating in Welkom, Free State , is seeking a meticulous and experienced Logistics and Procurement Officer. This critical role involves managing the end-to-end supply chain for our diverse catering operations. You will be responsible for sourcing high-quality ingredients and supplies, negotiating favorable contracts with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery to various event sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, logistics, and supply chain management, with a keen understanding of the specific needs of the food service industry in the Free State . This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills and the ability to optimize operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement procurement strategies to source catering supplies, ingredients, and equipment. Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with a network of reliable suppliers. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and ensure quality. Manage inventory levels, forecasting demand and implementing stock control measures to minimize waste and ensure availability. Oversee the logistics of transporting goods and supplies to various event locations efficiently. Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards in procurement and logistics. Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, inventory movements, and supplier agreements. Collaborate with the culinary and operations teams to align procurement and logistics with event schedules and menu requirements. Implement and maintain efficient supply chain management systems and processes. Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably within the hospitality or food service industry. Demonstrated ability in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost analysis. Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in relevant procurement software and MS Office Suite. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of food safety and quality standards is essential.
