Job Description

Duties This position is located in the Air National Guard, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Vehicle Management Flight. The purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate supervisors, work leaders, and workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of the Vehicle Management Flight and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. The flight is responsible for overall management, maintenance, and repair of the wing's vehicle fleet and account for and maintain vehicle assets so they are safe, efficient, environmentally sound and meet the unit's needs. • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO AREAS OF CONSIDERATION (AOC) 1 & 2 ONLY. PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO AOC 1. AOC DEFINITIONS: Area 1: Current permanent employees of the South Carolina Air National Guard. (Note-Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and will not qualify for this AOC) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Air National Guard. Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Air National Guard. Min/Max Mil Grades: E7-E8 GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Experience or training demonstrating the skill to make or assist with repairs by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn components. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
