ED RN

Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled nursing care in a fast-paced adult community emergency department. The role involves managing a variety of acute medical conditions including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory and cardiac diseases, and orthopedic cases. The RN is expected to deliver exceptional patient care, perform advanced clinical procedures, and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to support patient outcomes in a high-acuity environment. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs in the emergency department setting.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Manage IV insertions, PICC lines, and central lines.
• Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs; perform tele-interpretation, cardioversion, and defibrillation.
• Provide airway management including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator support, and tracheostomy care.
• Deliver care for behavioral health patients, including those with chemical dependency.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Support patient admissions and coordinate care transitions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency nursing or a similar acute care setting.
• Proficiency in IV insertion and management of PICC/central lines.
• Cardiac skills including 12-lead EKG acquisition and interpretation, cardioversion, and defibrillation.
• Airway management skills including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilators, and tracheostomy care.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with behavioral health patients and chemical dependency care.
• Previous line management or leadership experience.

Special Considerations:

• Work in a fast-paced emergency department with a high admission rate.
• Adult patient population with minimum trauma or pediatric cases.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations and multiple critical patients simultaneously.

Scheduling:

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week.
• Shift assignments may require flexibility to meet department needs.
