Job Description

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on GitLab CI/CD development experience to support enterprise-level migration from existing CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins and Azure DevOps (AZDO) to GitLab across multiple banking entities.

The ideal candidate should have strong programming and scripting skills, experience developing reusable CI/CD templates, and the ability to implement security gates and automated build-and-deployment pipelines. Candidates with a software development background and prior enterprise-level CI/CD platform migration experience will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support enterprise-level CI/CD migration from Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and other platforms to GitLab.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines and reusable templates.
• Build centralized CI/CD templates incorporating security gates, code quality checks, vulnerability scanning, and compliance controls.
• Develop automated build, test, security scanning, and deployment workflows for applications.
• Work closely with development, security, and DevOps teams to onboard applications onto GitLab.
• Write scripts and automation using Python, Bash, or other programming languages.
• Understand application build artifacts and packaging formats, including .NET DLLs and Java JAR files.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures, resolve migration challenges, and ensure consistency across enterprise environments.
• Collaborate with application teams to understand source code, dependencies, build processes, and deployment requirements.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of overall DevOps experience.
• 1 2+ years of hands-on GitLab CI/CD development experience.
• Strong experience creating and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines and reusable templates.
• Experience migrating CI/CD pipelines from Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms to GitLab.
• Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD security gates and integrating security tools into pipelines.
• Strong Python scripting or equivalent programming/automation skills.
• Understanding of software development life cycles, build processes, and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of application artifacts, including .NET DLLs and Java JAR files.
• Experience with source control, automated testing, build automation, and deployment workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior enterprise-scale CI/CD migration experience.
• Software development background in Java, .NET, or similar technologies.
• Experience with DevSecOps, automated security scanning, and compliance enforcement.
• Experience building standardized CI/CD solutions for multiple application teams.

Important Screening Criteria

We are looking for a GitLab CI/CD Developer, not a GitLab Administrator or a general DevOps Engineer.

Candidates must demonstrate:

• Actual hands-on development of GitLab CI/CD pipelines and templates.
• Experience implementing security gates within centralized CI/CD templates.
• Previous migration experience from Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or other CI/CD platforms to GitLab.
• Strong scripting/programming skills and a clear understanding of application build and deployment processes.

Client feedback to consider: Candidates with primarily infrastructure automation experience, basic DevOps knowledge, or experience merely using/administering GitLab without developing CI/CD pipelines will not be a good fit.
