ROLE DESCRIPTION Position: Host/Hostess

Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Restaurant Manager

JOB SUMMARY The Host/Hostess is responsible for providing a warm and welcoming experience for guests as they enter the restaurant. This role supports the team by managing reservations, seating guests, and ensuring a smooth flow of service, contributing to the overall operations of the hotel's restaurant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

• Operational Responsibilities
  • Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
  • Manage reservations and seating arrangements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host/hostess stand and entrance area.
• Guest Services
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to guest inquiries.
  • Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by accommodating special requests.
• Team Support and Training
  • Assist in training new hosts/hostesses as needed.
  • Support team performance by collaborating with colleagues.
• Communication and Reporting
  • Communicate effectively with the restaurant manager and other staff.
  • Report any incidents or safety concerns immediately.
• Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all hotel policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities
• Previous experience in a host/hostess or customer service role is preferred

Physical Requirements

• Sitting: Occasional
• Standing/Walking: Frequent, including standing for long periods
• Lifting/Carrying: Up to 25 lbs, such as menus and supplies
• Other Physical Requirements: Handling, grasping, and crouching as needed

Working Environment

• Interior: Restaurant dining area and entrance

BASICS

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
• Display courteous behavior with guests and team members
• Report any unsafe conditions immediately
• Ensure restaurant equipment is in proper working condition
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous experience in a host/hostess or customer service role is a plus
