Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team in preparation of procedures in the operating room
• Prepare cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases
• Set up operative instrumentation and maintain an orderly sterile field with careful aseptic technique
• Manage equipment and supplies, including inventory checks and readiness for assigned cases
• Perform counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and blades with the Registered Nurse according to standards
• Assist with cleaning and preparing equipment and facilities; perform related clerical duties as assigned
• Transport patients and support unit operations to support case flow as needed
• Label solutions and maintain documentation according to established standards

Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree preferred
• Licenses/Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technician) or TS-C (Tech in Surgery – NCCT) certification required; CPR/BLS certification required by AH policy; CNA certification preferred
• Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field
• Licenses: Current nursing license per state of assignment (as applicable)
• Ability to work in the operating room environment and satisfy the shift schedule
