Permit Technician

Gateway Science and Engineering is seeking multiple full-time Permit Technicians for various locations throughout Los Angeles County. Salary: $58,240 – $72,800 Location(s): Santa Clarita, CA | San Gabriel, CA | Lancaster, CA | Calabasas, CA | Lawndale, CA Position Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent ICC Permit Technician Certification Example of Duties: Assisting the general public including architects, engineers, and contractors by providing technical information concerning building and construction permit requirements, zoning regulations, and other information needed to comply with State, County, and City laws and building codes. Making the final check of forms, permit applications, bonds, easements, waivers, and affidavits for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all pertinent laws. Reading and interpreting plans at the public counter and those received electronically, assisting the public with plan check submittals, and issuing permits. Coordinating routing, filing, and logging of plans, permits, and workers’ compensation insurance certificates to appropriate sections or agencies. Computing charges for building permits using standardized fee tables and formulas, receiving fees, and recording and balancing daily cash transactions. Utilizing automated permit issuance, inspection scheduling, and plan tracking system. Assisting the office manager/staff in other related permitting activities. Responsible for public counter services such as processing automated and manual permits, receiving plan submittals, preparing reports, cashiering, handling customer needs over the phone and in person, and maintaining records in locations throughout Los Angeles.
