The Role We are seeking a passionate and proactive Buyer to serve as the commercial cornerstone of our supply chain. Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, you will be the company’s direct interface with our supply base. In this pivotal role, you will manage all commercial aspects – from initial quoting to long-term relationship management – to ensure optimal performance, cost efficiency, and strong partnerships.

Essential Functions

• Relationship Management: Develop and nurture positive, long-term commercial relationships with suppliers and the Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD) through regular communication, events, and on-site visits.
• Commercial Leadership: Lead and resolve commercial disputes and challenges within the supply base.
• Strategic Negotiation: Conduct negotiations regarding price, lead times, minimum order quantities, and related commercial items, including part samples.
• Financial Oversight: Analyze supplier price changes, challenge increases, and amend FCS purchase orders to maintain cost integrity.
• Sourcing & Quoting: Manage new part and supplier business quoting (RFQs) for both parts and services.
• Cost & Improvement: Proactively identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
• Operational Support: Partner with planning analysts to address chronic late deliveries and assist with claim processing.
• Data Integrity: Maintain accurate supplier contact information and part master data (descriptions, costs, and part levels) within FCS and FCSD computer systems.
• Asset Management: Validate and track company-owned tooling located at supplier facilities.
• Program Launch: Provide buyer support to the Ford production team when launching programs involving FCS products.

Qualifications We are looking for a motivated professional who excels in a dynamic, professional office environment. To be successful, you will typically possess:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or
• Two to four years of related experience and/or training in a buyer or supply chain role; or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates your capability to perform the essential duties.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to travel between sites/buildings as required.
