Tax Preparer

Kinner & Company Ltd is seeking a motivated and experienced Accountant to join our team in Tracy, MN. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of accounting and tax responsibilities, works well independently, and can step in quickly to support our clients and firm operations. The role may be structured as part-time or full-time depending on the candidate’s availability and preferences. Our firm offers a flexible seasonal schedule, with stronger hours during tax season and reduced hours during slower periods. For the right candidate, this could include little to no summer hours if desired. Anticipated Term Start now through the 2027 tax season, with the possibility of continued employment beyond tax season depending on firm needs, candidate performance, and mutual interest. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities may include preparing individual and/or business tax returns, processing client payroll accurately and on schedule, preparing payroll reports and related filings, assisting with monthly financial statement preparation, maintaining accurate client records and supporting documentation, communicating with clients and team members regarding needed information, using accounting and tax software to complete work efficiently and accurately, and supporting additional accounting, bookkeeping, and tax-related projects as needed. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have prior experience in public accounting, tax preparation, payroll, bookkeeping, or a related accounting role, along with a strong understanding of tax and accounting principles. We are looking for someone who can work independently while also contributing to a team environment, maintains strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, and is comfortable using accounting software, tax software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office or similar programs. Strong organizational and time-management skills—especially during deadline-driven periods—are important, as are professional communication skills and a client-service mindset. This position offers flexibility to work more hours during the winter and tax season, balanced with reduced hours during slower times of the year. Potential schedule options may include part-time or full-time hours depending on availability and firm needs, stronger hours during tax season, and reduced summer hours, including the possibility of no summer hours if desired.
