First Officer - Immediate Start

The 1st Officer's primary responsibility is the planning and execution of the voyage, ensuring the vessel is safely and efficiently navigated to the next port of call, while maintaining all the necessary navigational/safety publications, charts, flags, rules and regulations.The position ensures that Bridge maintenance and inventories are in order before the beginning of each voyage.The 1st Officer will act as a watch-keeping officer and will keep the Bridge Team, including the Master/Staff Captain, informed of any warnings or corrections made to the set itinerary.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Will act as a watch-keeping officer; Watch keeping officer Familiarization form (SMP 411-11); Bridge equipment Familiarization form (SMP 411-21); Familiar with the AMOS maintenance system; Shall keep track of all interval related to the scope of work in the AMOS system; Assist the Chief Officer as required; Aid the Chief Officer with crew training when required; All Officers must familiarize themselves with all aspects of the Tender/Zodiac operations and be ready to overlook and supervise these operations at any time required; Participate in Tender, Zodiac and Marina operations which will include driving, lowering, and securing operations or any other duty as directed by Chief Officer; Assist with monthly Zodiac trainings; Well acquainted with the operation of both Rescue boats, including, but is not limited to, launching, recovering, maneuvering as well as a full understanding of SAR (Search and Rescue) operations; It is the responsibility of every crewmember to perform duties according to the Superior Officer’s instruction; the work should be carried out in a safe and professional manner in order to keep the ship’s equipment at the highest level of safe operating condition; Be familiar with the Safety Management System Premaster and have a full understanding of the Safety Organization as per the Emergency Plan; The officer is expected to spend time understudying the roles of the Navigation, Safety and Maintenance duties as described below as well as senior colleagues when his/her schedule allows so as to be in a position to progress when the opportunity arises; Embrace the 8 Compass Points of Excellence and act as a role model accordingly Ensure that all necessary Navigational publications, electronic charts, flags and other supplies are in stock / up to date and the equipment is in good working order before the beginning of each voyage.; Make Sea and Port passage plans as directed by the Master and as per company policy.; Keep an updated library on the bridge with all necessary rules and regulations.; Keep track of all Bridge related maintenance and inventories in the AMOS system.; Keep the Bridge Team (including the Master/Staff Captain) informed of equipment failure and in addition, keep a rough log of these malfunctions. Furthermore, a request shall be submitted to the Staff Captain as new equipment, supplies and service needs to be ordered.; Responsible for making adjustments and changes to the computer based navigation system, as the only person permitted to do so.; Ensure that all bridge logbooks are kept in a good order. Note: The official Deck Log Book is the Chief Officer’s responsibility.; Be responsible to maintain all GMDSS equipment and GMDSS Log Book, with the assistance of the Chief Electronic Engineer; To purchase, update and maintain all ENC, ARCS, CMAP on the ECDIS. This includes charts for all small boats with chart installation.; Maintain and order the electronic charts for the Tenders, Ribs and Rescue Boat; Monitor weather for future voyages as well as ongoing; In coordinate with Captain and Environmental Engineer, see to that adequate timings outside environmental limits are tended to during every voyage.; In charge of training new members (including Quartermaster/Lookout) of the Bridge team in the proper use of the ships bridge equipment.; Conduct monthly Tender & Lifeboat Driving Training; Keep track of certified zodiac drivers onboard and training standard of trainees; ensure the planning of monthly zodiac driving training and assist Chief Officer with the training of zodiac drivers; keep track and update the zodiac payment log; Designated safety training officer; Notifying the Chief Officer of any issue or observations regarding any life-saving appliances; Conduct the weekly and monthly LSA inspection as per SOLAS; Maintain all LSA equipment according to AMOS and keep LSA expiry list up-to-date; Conduct all safety related trainings including:;

♦ Pre-departure Safety training

♦ Lifeboat/Life raft training

♦ New hired crew training

♦ Safety duties training

♦ Galley and housekeeping team training

♦ Personally train crew member that change safety duties

♦ Ensure that all safety signs onboard are in place and in good condition

Assign safety duties and updating the system for joining Crew as directed by the Chief Officer; Updating all safety training plans and In-Port-Manning (IPM) list; Keep the SOLAS Training Manual and the Safety Booklet (together with Chief Officer) up to date; Ensure collection of all safety training certificates from new joining Crew; Assist in monitoring crew members Basic Safety Training (BST) certification and ensure all crew assigned safety duties have the relevant certification; Assist Marine Coordinator with reviewing COPs if required and have a good understanding of the Training Matrix; Ensure that AMOS work orders for Deck Department are issued and handed over to Bosun.; Follow up on that the work orders are completed on time and report them into AMOS accordingly. Keep the Chief Officer informed of any findings or irregularities.; Responsible for the RIB craft, Defender, Zodiacs, Tender boat and Rescue boat. Ensuring they are maintained to high standards and ordering of required spare parts.; Carry out two maintenance inspections together with Bosun per week; keep an inspection log with pictures. Keep Chief Officer informed.; Carry out maintenance inspection together with Bosun on all balconies every month; keep an inspection log with pictures. Keep Chief Officer informed.; Assist the Chief Officer, ensuring that tanks are inspected and maintained according to AMOS.; Ensure together with the Chief Officer that tank entry checklists and all required safety precautions have been carried out prior to tank entry. Carry out tank inspections together with Chief Officer and make tank reports. Assist Chief Officer with follow up of findings.; Maintain dive equipment and purchase of necessary equipment and obtain certification of air cylinders, BCD’s and breathing regulators. Ensure that all equipment after each dive is stored back in the dive locker and ready for use.; Maintain and update the Tender Operation Manual; Work on projects as directed by the Chief Officer;

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and licenses shall conform with all International and National conventions/ regulations.; Preferably Master’s license, STCW II/2 license, minimum Chief Officer license STCW II/2; Documented experience from passenger vessels before receiving employment is preferred; Fluent in written and spoken English.;

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

Able to work 7 days a week for a minimum period for extended period.; While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.; All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.; Assist with zodiac landings, Marina days and Expeditions when required.; Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.; Able to pass basic safety course.;
