Since 1818!The Quality Engineer helps ensure Libbey products consistently meet the highest quality standards. By partnering with suppliers and internal teams, this role drives quality excellence throughout the supply chain.Quality Engineer responsibilities include establishing and maintaining quality standards, managing product specifications, and ensuring quality documentation remains accurate, current, and accessible to manufacturing locations and suppliers worldwide.ResponsibilitiesAssist with qualification of new sourced items.Assist with R&D efforts to improve product quality or the processes and applications.Report on testing and qualification results through written and oral presentations.Verification of current and potential sourced product claims for marketing.Review and update QAPs (Quality Assurance Plans).Review of PSI (Pre-Shipment Inspection) reports for accuracy and completeness.Review and update PSS (Product Specification Sheets).Respond to Customer Questions and Complaints in a Professional Manner.Investigate and drive resolution to reports of product nonconformities for internal and external customers.Validate product quality through Lab Testing such as thermal shock, impact and chip resistance, and durability tests.Support all product channels.Support Libbey product supply chain during Process and Product Quality audits including third party testing such as Bureau Veritas, SGS, etc.Coordinate corrective and preventative action responses, activities, and follow up.Perform gauge reliability and repeatability studies as required.Stay up to date with relevant compliance and testing standards (such ASTM) for our various product categories and communicate with our suppliers and customer when an appropriate test is recommended.Assist in the development and implementation of a global Quality Management System.Other duties as assigned.Requirements & QualificationsBachelor's degree in a technical field (Engineering, Sciences, Ceramics, Quality, etc.) OR associate degree in a technical field with at least 6 years of Quality or Ceramics Engineer experience2 years of engineering or lab test experience within a manufacturing industry preferredExperience in various aspects of quality (corporate, laboratory, operations, supplier, product development and launch, customer satisfaction)Strong verbal presentation and clear concise written communication skills appropriate to the audienceProficiency with MS OfficeExperience working with engineering and operations on cross-functional projects, facilitating process improvements, ability to streamline/develop and roll-out new processes or product launches preferredDemonstrated use of structured problem-solving skills, Six Sigma/Lean preferredProficient in blueprint reading and GD & T with a working understanding of measurement methods, layout inspection (CMM), gage calibration and industry standards for inspection and testing preferredTravel up to 10% with at least part being internationalCompetencies for SuccessTake Control: ask for the direction and support you need to attain mastery of your objectives and ownership of your professional development.Be Engaged & Committed: lean in to learn, engage, and contribute, resulting in increased performance and personal satisfaction from your work.Be Accountable: hold yourself responsible for achieving your goals and successfully executing against the organization's initiatives.Continuous Improvement Mindset: Act with curiosity, proactively identifying and implementing changes to enhance work processes and outcomes.
