Staff Accountant $60k-$75k

Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Client Site Approximately 3 Days per Week Position Overview The Staff Accountant is a reliable, detail-oriented self-starter who takes ownership of keeping client accounting records accurate and current, responding to day-to-day accounting needs, and supporting smooth year-end and tax processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting work, client interaction, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment. Key Responsibilities Provide general accounting and bookkeeping support for firm clients. Work on-site at a client’s Englewood, NJ office approximately three days per week , with the schedule varying based on client needs. Serve as a day-to-day accounting resource for the client and respond to routine accounting questions. Perform monthly QuickBooks reviews, clean-up, and account maintenance , including review of invoices and checkbook activity. Post and code client transactions to the appropriate general ledger accounts and classes using invoices, bank records, and other supporting documentation. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Maintain the general ledger by preparing, reviewing, and adjusting journal entries as needed. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including: Balance sheets Income statements Cash flow reports Reconcile general ledger balances, including prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, and other key accounts against supporting schedules and source documents. Identify discrepancies or unusual items and communicate them to the engagement manager. Support year-end procedures, including: Cash tie-outs Accounts payable searches Accounts receivable review 1099 preparation Assist with organizing and preparing client files for tax preparation. Help respond to tax notices and review related correspondence. Maintain follow-up lists to ensure client requests, outstanding items, and open questions are tracked and resolved in a timely manner. Build strong relationships with clients and internal engagement teams through responsive and proactive communication. Manage time effectively between on-site client responsibilities and other assigned engagements while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines. Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Experience with data imports preferred. Yardi experience is a plus. Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and general ledger accounting. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Ability to complete assignments accurately within established budgets and deadlines. Ability to travel to the client’s Englewood, NJ office up to three days per week . Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and comfortable working directly with clients.
