Senior Scientist - Method Lead, Cell and Gene Therapy

Senior Scientist role in cell and gene therapy at Thermo Fisher Scientific's GMP laboratory in Middleton, Wisconsin. The position involves independent execution of complex laboratory testing, method development and validation, technical mentorship of junior scientists, and serving as an escalation resource for analytical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform complex laboratory testing including routine testing, analytical investigation, development, transfer, and validation activities
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in assigned analytical methods, assays, or platform technologies
- Author, review, and oversee non-routine technical deliverables such as methods, protocols, reports, and quality records
- Train, mentor, and provide technical coaching to Scientist I and II staff through direct laboratory involvement
- Serve as technical escalation resource for execution-level testing issues and support root cause analysis
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent formal academic/vocational qualification
- 5+ years of relevant laboratory or analytical experience
- Advanced scientific judgment and problem-solving capabilities
- Subject matter expertise in analytical methods, assays, or platform technologies
- Strong hands-on laboratory skills and GMP compliance knowledge
- Ability to lift 40 lbs without assistance; pass background check and drug screening
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
