Associate Director - Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Construction Management

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director - Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to lead cost and commercial management services across a diverse portfolio of construction and development projects. This is a senior client-facing role, requiring strong technical expertise, sound commercial judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams. You will contribute to the successful delivery of projects from feasibility and procurement through to construction, completion and final account.


Responsibilities will include establishing project cost plans, budgets and cash-flow forecasts; preparing feasibility studies, estimates and value management proposals; advising on procurement strategies and contract selection; managing tender processes and evaluating returns; and monitoring project costs, risks, change control and commercial performance. You will provide clear financial reporting, lead the assessment and agreement of variations, manage interim valuations and payment recommendations, and support the resolution of commercial issues, claims and disputes. The role will also involve reviewing consultant and contractor appointments, mentoring junior colleagues, contributing to bids and fee proposals, and supporting the continued development of project controls, procedures and service standards.


Applicants should have substantial experience in cost management or quantity surveying within a construction, property or consultancy environment, together with a strong understanding of building projects, construction contracts, procurement and cost planning. Professional accreditation, such as membership of a recognised surveying or construction institution, is desirable. You will be commercially astute, numerate and highly organised, with excellent communication, negotiation and report-writing skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities, lead project teams, influence stakeholders and work confidently at both strategic and detailed levels is essential. Experience across sectors such as commercial, residential, healthcare, education, infrastructure or mixed-use development would be advantageous. A proactive approach, commitment to quality and confidence in taking ownership of complex assignments are key to success in this position.
