Baylor University Medical Center's Occupational Therapists are members of the Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation, a joint venture between Baylor Scott & White Health and Select Medical. If selected for this role, you would be associated with Baylor Scott & White, meaning you would not be directly employed by Baylor Scott & White but would provide services to Baylor Scott & White's patients while being an employee of Select Medical.

The Occupational Therapist plans, organizes and provides professional services in restorative, functional and preventative therapeutic programs to patients. Clinical practice includes evaluation and occupational therapy treatment planning to facilitate rehabilitation of the mental, physical or emotional person with a disability. Works closely with patients and family to establish and meet treatment goals.

Essential Functions Of The Role:

• Evaluates, treats and monitors patient. Modifies therapy program and goals.
• Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner. Enters charges accurately.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families, departmental coworkers and members of the medical care team. Provides education to patients, family and staff.
• Supervises ancillary staff, students and volunteers.
• Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review and implementation of evidence-based practice.
• Imparts knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues. Adheres to organizational, national and state regulatory guidelines.
• Maintains awareness of system goals. Aligns personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.

• Must possess problem solving skills at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
• Must possess good communication skills and be able to relate professionally and positively to patients, patient's family members and facility staff.
• Exhibits proven face-to-face synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assures delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and coworkers.
• Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
• High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
• Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of Accredited Occupational Therapy Program

Experience: Acute Care experience preferred

Certification/License/Registration: Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) Basic Life Support (BLS)
