Associate Attorney - Plaintiff Personal Injury / Trial Preparation

Eason Law Firm (DBA Eason Car Accident and Personal Injury Lawyers) is growing and seeking an experienced attorney who wants to do serious plaintiff personal injury work in a trial-focused, client-centered practice. This is not a high-volume settlement mill role. We are looking for a lawyer who can help prepare cases for trial, think strategically about damages and liability, write well, and work directly with clients whose lives have been changed by serious injuries.

About the Firm

Eason Law Firm represents injured people in serious personal injury matters, including car crashes, trucking and commercial vehicle collisions, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and other high-stakes negligence cases. Our practice is built around preparation, direct communication, and trial readiness. We take cases seriously from the beginning and prepare with the assumption that the insurance company may not do the right thing unless pressure is applied. We are not trying to be the biggest personal injury firm in town. We are focused on doing strong work for the right clients and building a firm where lawyers can practice law, not just process files.

The Role

The Associate Attorney will work closely with James Eason on plaintiff personal injury cases, with a particular emphasis on getting cases ready for trial. The right person will be comfortable analyzing liability, developing damages, preparing written work product, managing discovery, supporting depositions, and helping move cases forward with discipline and urgency. This role is a strong fit for a lawyer who has worked in plaintiff personal injury or insurance defense and wants to apply that experience in a smaller, serious, trial-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare personal injury cases for litigation, negotiation, mediation, and trial.
• Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement demands, and case correspondence.
• Analyze liability, damages, medical records, insurance coverage, and case value.
• Assist with depositions, expert preparation, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
• Communicate clearly and directly with clients, opposing counsel, insurers, experts, and the internal team.
• Help identify the cases that deserve deeper litigation investment and the cases that may be better referred elsewhere.

Who We’re Looking For

• Licensed Missouri attorney in good standing. Illinois licensure is a plus, but not required unless applicable to the candidate’s practice background.
• Approximately 5–7+ years of experience in plaintiff personal injury, insurance defense, civil litigation, or a closely related field.
• Strong legal writing skills. This matters. The firm needs someone who can write clearly, persuasively, and independently.
• Comfort with litigation fundamentals: pleadings, discovery, depositions, medical records, expert issues, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• A practical understanding of how insurance companies evaluate and defend injury claims.
• Good client judgment: compassionate without being passive, direct without being careless, and strategic without being performative.
• A desire to work in a growing firm where culture, fit, and judgment matter as much as credentials.

• You do not need to be a billboard lawyer. You do need to care about the craft of litigation.
• You should be comfortable in a smaller firm environment where people take ownership and communicate clearly.
• You should want to learn from an experienced trial lawyer while also bringing enough experience to carry meaningful responsibility.
• You should understand that serious injury work requires both toughness and humanity. Clients need straight answers, strong advocacy, and a lawyer who is willing to prepare the case as if it may need to be tried.
• We are growing carefully. Culture matters here, and this position will remain open until we find the right fit for our team.
