This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader who takes pride in building strong teams, maintaining safe and productive jobsites, and delivering high-quality projects from startup through closeout.What You'll DoLead Field OperationsOversee day-to-day jobsite operations from project startup through closeoutLead and coordinate field crews, Foremen, subcontractors, equipment, and materialsDevelop and maintain project schedules, sequencing, and manpower plansMonitor field productivity and ensure project milestones and deadlines are metCoordinate work with Project Managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other tradesParticipate in project meetings with clients, general contractors, engineers, and project partnersIdentify field challenges early and develop solutions to keep projects movingDrive Safety & QualityPromote and enforce VMG safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety proceduresConduct routine jobsite safety inspections and reinforce safe work practicesIdentify and address potential hazards, incidents, and near missesEnsure installations meet project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and VMG quality standardsMonitor workmanship and coordinate inspections and quality-control activitiesMaintain accountability for company tools, equipment, materials, and vehiclesManage Project PerformancePlan manpower, materials, equipment, and resources to support project schedulesMonitor daily production, labor productivity, and overall field progressCoordinate material and equipment deliveries to prevent unnecessary delaysTrack project costs, invoices, and subcontractor activitiesComplete daily reports, timesheets, job logs, schedules, and other required documentationMaintain organized project records throughout construction and closeoutLead & Develop the TeamProvide day-to-day leadership and direction to field crews and subcontractorsSet clear expectations for safety, productivity, quality, and professionalismCoach and develop Foremen and other field employeesPromote accountability, teamwork, and strong communication across the jobsiteHelp identify and develop future field leadersLead by example and foster a respectful, results-driven work environmentWhat You Bring5+ years of experience supervising commercial construction projectsCommercial HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical, or MEP experience strongly preferredProven experience leading field teams and managing day-to-day jobsite operationsStrong understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, manpower planning, and cost controlAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentsStrong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environmentProficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management technologyOSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtainValid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred ExperienceExperience leading large-scale commercial mechanical construction projectsStrong background in HVAC, plumbing, piping, or related mechanical systemsExperience managing projects from startup through closeoutExperience coordinating with owners, general contractors, Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other tradesProven ability to manage manpower, schedules, and field productivityWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesLeadership development and opportunities for continued career advancementThe opportunity to lead challenging commercial mechanical projects throughout the Sterling and Northern Virginia areaA collaborative, team-oriented environment where your leadership makes an impactWhy VMG?At VMG, our field leaders play a critical role in delivering the safe, high-quality mechanical work our customers expect.
