Admissions Counselor

Job Overview Metro State University, a public urban university in Minnesota, is hiring an Admissions Counselor. This is a full‑time position in the Admissions department. Responsibilities Recruit and counsel prospective students on admission policies and procedures. Develop and manage the annual recruitment plan for a specified territory. Represent the university on various institution‑wide committees and teams. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or Bachelor's degree plus one year of professional experience, or two years of professional experience, or an equivalent combination of post‑secondary training, education, and/or professional experience. Experience in college admissions, student services, recruiting, academic advising, sales, marketing, and/or related experience working with post‑traditional students in an urban environment with diverse populations. Excellent public speaking, writing, and organization skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Twin Cities. Preferred Qualifications Experience cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships. Experience serving students, community members, partners, and organizations from marginalized communities (Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color). Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali, or Hmong is a plus. Experience collaborating with post‑traditional learners. Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic multi‑campus organization within a team‑oriented environment. Articulate and possess outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team member to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Physical Requirements Occasional lifting or carrying of items such as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Job involves walking, standing, and routine sedentary work. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $47,788 – $78,458 (minimum – maximum) based on education and experience. Position is a Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty (MSUAASF) Range B. Start date: on or after August 26, 2026.
